The EUROVISION DEBATE: Tune in, turn on, #TellEUROPE

Meldung : Genf, Schweiz (ots) - At 21:00 CET tonight the five candidates to become the next European Commission President began to stake their claims to the EU's top job during the EUROVISION DEBATE, live from the hemicycle of the European Parliament, in Brussels. With the European elections just a week away, the EUROVISION DEBATE is the candidates' last chance to reach out to millions of European voters on television, radio and online. The debate is being aired on 49 TV channels, 43 web media and 9 radio stations across Europe and beyond, bringing the European democratic process right into our homes. Viewers are encouraged to take part in the programme across social media channels using the hashtag #TellEUROPE to share comments and opinions. As the programme producer, EUROVISION, operated by the European Broadcasting Union, is the guarantor of the debate's editorial independence. "EU policies have a real impact on over half a billion Europeans, yet they can still seem remote from our daily lives. As public service media it is our role to help bridge that gap, and bring democracy to audiences," said EBU Director General Ingrid Deltenre.
